The Turkish Program offers a placement test to help students enroll in the course that best matches their language background and proficiency.
We offer two versions of the placement test:
- For regular language learners (students who have not grown up speaking Turkish at home)
- For heritage learners (students with a family or community background in Turkish)
Both tests are completed online and assess key skills such as grammar, vocabulary, reading, and listening.
After you complete the online test, a Turkish instructor will review your results and contact you. In some cases, you may be asked to participate in a brief oral interview to better assess your speaking ability and ensure accurate placement.
The placement test does not affect your grades. Its purpose is to ensure that you are placed in the course where you can learn comfortably, be challenged appropriately, and succeed.
